NAACP Declares State of Emergency!

The increase in reports of violence and overly aggressive prosecution against African American youth led the NAACP to declare a State of Emergency. It is about time something is done about these unjust handling's done by police officers. It seems that the color of crime in this country today is that of blue. Not the color that some people turn when they hold their breath for too long but I am talking about the ladies and gentlemen in those blue uniforms that are suppose to be upholding the law and protecting our streets from the violence that plagues us. Instead, they are causing the uproar.

I think there needs to be a clear platform for civil rights litigation in this country. There must be some consistency on how we approach these cases, at least on the underlying levels. What defines civil rights litigation in this country nowadays? What does it look like?

The media has done a great job at sweeping these issues under the rug. Free speech is a great thing to have but you must ask yourself who has the power to freedom of speech. That would prove the political and social posturing that the media has. Think about who calls the shots at CNN, FOX and MSNBC.

The final thing that I will say is, there is a growing police culture in America that is anti-'of color' anti gay and anti anything that is not purely wealthy and white. This culture is a growing concern for many civil rights activists. The power that the men and women in blue have may be a bit overreaching. Remember absolute power corrupts absolutely.
